Quote from @Pete Bhanshali:

Hello BP Family,

I am working on project, already have the approved architecture drawing, gutting the whole place. I need wooden beam in the basement replaced with I Beam, unfortunately my contractor that specializes in structural area has taken time off to focus on his personal property.  The contractor will have clear access from basement window to bring in the beam plus the whole area has been cleared. It will be 22 feet span, with three post, what do you reckon the cost will be  and can someone please recommend a contractor that specializes in this area.

Thank You in advance for your help!

Pete...

In columbus you have to have an hic license for below 3 units and a gc license for over 4 units. For the hic license, you have to be tested and approved and have proven work history. The state of Ohio leaves it up to the townships, cities, n such.

Geoffrey,

Material costs have skyrocketed over the last year and the markets have changed as demand for us, (giod contractors) goes up. Wood alone has gone up like 400 % like osb n other wood. The shift has went from contractors working cheap to ger jobs, to less good contractors and more work then skilled labor. Your numbers could be viable depending on extend of rehabs.

If you use I believer triple wall stove pipe depending on what surrounds it, or double wall and run the pipe all the way to where furnace n waterheater go in, then you can do it
