I don't understand how a landlord would have any right to evict or recent the apartment just because the tenant isn't there. If the rent is paid up what business is it of the landlords if the person is gone for months at a time?

6 months worth of savings plus whatever your mls board fees are. They were 2100 in my area. Don't under estimate how much you will spend on gas and advertising cost if you're gonna be independent.
