Hello BP Nation!
I am looking to start my RE investing in 2014. I live in Gurnee, Illinois which is by the Illinois\Wisconsin border. BP podcast brought me here and helps to keep me motivated.
Due to the fact that I already have the full time job I am thinking about starting part time as a buy and hold investor. It doesn't seem like my local area can support that strategy very well but things start looking up once you cross the border into Wisconsin.
I'm also thinking about investing into vacation properties.
Looking forward to be a part of this community and helping others in whatever way I can.
Sebastian
@Sebastian Boruta , welcome to BP. I grew up in the (not quite as far) northern suburbs and spent many a summer day in Gurnee at Great America.
I like your plans and you will definitely find a ton of knowledge here to support your endeavors.
@Sebastian Boruta Welcome to BP nation! You have definitely come to the the greatest site that has ever existed for learning about REI. Become active on here by asking questions, introducing yourself to others, and posting on the forums in any way you see fit.
I'm super glad to hear that you want to help on this site. That's really admirable. Seldom do newbies on here offer to do so right off the bat. Kudos to you! You're on the right track already Sebastian!
Having a full time job can be an advantage because banks love to see that when loaning you money. W-2 definitely has its strong points!
I joined BP in February and the latest podcast at the time was Matt Landau's podcast number 56 on vacation properties down in Panama (I believe it was there). I LOVED it, and it's definitely up there with some of my other favorites thus far. Check it out and let me know what you think of it.
Here on BP, a lot of us believe in the law of reciprocity. Well, at least I do! Remain positive and contribute on here & add value for others on your business.

He hit the nail on the head. Hopefully you can too Sebastian!
Nice hearing from you,
John

Greetings @Sebastian Boruta
I'm in Waukegan. I'm full time employed and investing part time with buy and hold. Actually working on closing a 2 unit here in the next 2 weeks. We should get together sometime over lunch. If you haven't you should also look at Lake County Property Investors Association (LCPIA). We meet 2nd Tuesday of each month.
I'm with you as I'm also starting to look in WI area. And I've also been networking with the Milwaukee BiggerPockets group which meets the last Saturday of the month. It's about 45 minute drive from us. @Ramon Jenkins is an agent in WI as well as a member of the group. Good people to meet. Thanks @Brie Schmidt for shouting me out. I need to update my keyword alert or maybe browse a little more.
Welcome aboard Sebastian
Im working on a fix and flip in Waukegan. I am new to the Chicago area so dont know too much but getting to know Waukegan. If you're dealing in that area, let me know. I can put you in touch with a great contractor. All the best to you.
Thank you @Brianna Schmidt, @Arthur Banks and @Raji Ahmed for the warm welcome. Good to hear from the people in the neighborhood. Hope to meet you in person soon.
@Brianna Schmidt I see that you organize local meetups. Thank you for taking the time to do that. While I cannot attend the meetup this Tuesday I will definitely try to get to the next one.
@Arthur Banks greetings neighbor! Lunch sounds great. I work full time but drive around for work a quite a bit so depending on where you're located we can set it up.
I checked LCPIA but Tuesday evenings are difficult for me to get out of the house I will however plan to attend the Milwaukee meetup.
@Raji Ahmed Waukegan is right next door and I'll definitely check it out. I'd love to know more about the flip you're working on.
I'm in Libertyville during work hours and back in Waukegan there after. If during the week doesn't work, weekends are always good. My contact info is below if you want to take this offline.
@Arthur Banks Sounds good. We'll try to work it out this weekend
@Raji Kaur I'm so sorry. We talked already. That was meant for @Sebastian Boruta

Hi Sebastian, and welcome to BP! I'm a 'fix and hold' investor from the Bay in CA, and loving it! But you'll find a variety of every type of investor on the site, and everyone is amazingly helpful. Some pointers for you: The "Learn" link across the top navigation bar has lots of great info, and so do BP members! You can click on the 'vote' button if you like someone's post or is helpful, and there are 'awards' to earn on your profile. And you can tag people by typing @ before you type their name, then clicking their name at the bottom of the message box. Welcome to the site, and good luck in everything!
Welcome @Sebastian Boruta
