I let people shoot guns and hunt deer on my property.  Other times I'll drive by their house in my 'Vette with the T-tops out and let them take it for a spin.  It gets to 120 mph with a touch of the gas pedal.  Put the pedal to the floor and it's 160 mph.  I drive around in it with that shirt you see in my avatar.

Duplex's don't work that well.  Too much banging from the headboards.

What about a really nice box with weather proofing or a tarp.

Or give people a machetee, flint, steel and a bag of rice and sell it as the Survivor Experience or Survivor training camp.

Tomorrow I was going to make a post called "Arbitraging a Rent-A-Tent".  It's where you rent a commercial tent (circus, wedding, etc) and put it in the back yard of an STR.  You put a bunch of cots and sleeping bags in the tent.  The people sleeping in the tent have access to the house for cooking and the bathroom.

Will they have a place to go the bathroom or any running water? That make a big difference

They will have access to the house for the kitchen and bathroom.  It's all co-workers. They are welders, pipefitters and boilermakers.  They work 12 hours a day, shower, eat, sleep, repeat.

I knew some guys that would rent a U-Haul and put a bunch of mattresses in there to sleep on during Mardi Gras.  A large U-Haul would sleep 6-10 people.  I'm thinking about renting some U-Haul's and parking them in the back yard of some of my STRs.  I'd put beds in the cargo area.  The house and the U-Haul would be rented to as many guys as possible.  They would all be co-workers for the same company.  12 hour day shift and 12 hour night shift.  The workers sleeping in the U-Haul would have access to the kitchen and bathroom in the house.  I could run a cable TV to the box truck and set up an outdoor shower in the back yard.  How much would you charge people for sleeping in the U-Haul?

Apparently there is a federal law prohibiting this practice.

Laws prohibit a lot of things. Doesn't mean they don't get done...

I see signs on the side of the road that tell you how fast you can drive.  That law gets broken all the time.  I could rent one of those blue Porta Potties and set it outside 4 storage units.  I know that there is supposed to be one potty for every 8 people at a worksite.  I could put 2 beds in each of the 4 storage units and they will have a place to use the bathroom.
I'm with you, my man! Bunk beds, Bluetooth, TVS, coffee maker....maybe a communal keg?

How about some "dancers"?  I had some guys renting a place from me that hired some dancers from a club to come over to the house they were renting from me to perform for 2 hours.  2 dancers, a security guy, $300 for 2 hours.  They didn't want to spend money buying beer at the gentleman's club.

You know what a storage unit is.  Those storage buildings all in a row with a bunch of garage doors where you can rent out an individual unit to store your stuff.  A person can put some rudimentary furniture in there and maybe a tv, a microwave and a portable toilet.  They have a power outlet and a ceiling light.  The monthly rent for the storage unit is normally about $40.  How much do you think a person can get per night for a storage unit?  There are only about 250 motel rooms in this town.  Starting in January there will be about 1500 people coming here for a major industrial job.
