Hello BP!

There are a couple of us in the Bloomington, IN area and we have been talking about trying to connect with other investors because there is, surprisingly, no REIA that I can find.

If you are interested in meeting up, a few of us will be at the Scholars Inn Bakehouse (on 3rd Street) having coffee. Details below and hope to see you then:

What: Local investor meet-up

When: Saturday 7/25 at 9 am

Where: Scholars Inn Bakehouse, 3002 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN 47401

@Cory Gardner

@Andrew Meyer

That is an interesting situation! I second the advice to talk with your town's planning/zoning, I just got off the phone with mine earlier today and found out a neighboring property to one I am looking at will be tore down and a 20 unit apartment building put in its place, lots of helpful info from the people who are often looked at as enemies!

That's quite possible, people don't want to let go of the ones they have.

Hey @Andrew Meyer! My wife and I have a similar story! We had a live in rehab in Fort Wayne and just moved to Bloomington last year. I have been searching for multi's and the pickings are a bit slim but have been able to locate a few good options that we are looking to pursue as an owner occupant. Would love to connect in person sometime, I have not been able to find any REI associations down here!

welcome @Cory Gardner! I am also in the Bloomington and also moved recently from Fort Wayne! I was part of a REIA up there and have been surprised that there are none down here, at least that I can find. Who is your landlord? Maybe we could get something set up with other investors??

@Leonid Sapronov - thanks for the note! Funny thing, a ton has changed since this post and we have recently moved to Bloomington, IN after finally selling our place in Ft Wayne and we are just now back to a point where we are ready to get into our first multi as an owner-occupant. Looks like there is a constant flux of multi's down here so it should be a good place to start. Do you have any insight on this strategy?

Oops! Sorry to go off topic, didn't realize this was part of a larger thread! @Samuel George welcome to BP, I am also in Bloomington and looking to buy our first multi in the next few months. Would love to connect for coffee and chat sometime!

Hey Hapeesh! Actually have been hoping for the same thing here in Bloomington! Moved down about a year ago and have been shocked that there are no groups that I can find. I have even asked a couple other investors about it and they don't really seem that interested.

How long have you been in the area and what is the direction you are heading with your investments?

hey @Orion Walker welcome to the site as well! Like @Tanya F. I am very interested in greening up our rental spaces. I don't have near the credentials in this area as you but am really excited to find large scale options that make our investments more profitable and better for the earth. I just learned about methane digesters, how cool would it be if large apartment complexes used food waste from residents to supplement heating costs!? Cheers and good luck!

@Eric Black and @Mark C. good point! We are heading to Bloomington, IN. I will absolutely try to connect with some others in the area in BP. I just hear a lot about investing where the numbers make sense which might not be where you live and was getting a little nervous thinking about buying in a place I haven't experienced yet.
