Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I am fairly new to REI and will be relocating this summer to a new city and am looking for recommendations on anything you have done in the past that helped you get to know a new market. Would you advise living in an apartment for the first year to get to know the place, etc.? Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Kwasi Okyere ! Welcome to the forum, this is a great site with tons of info as you already know. I am in the FT. Wayne area but will be moving down to Bloomington. From what I can tell this is a great market. Good luck and maybe we will run into each other in person in the future.

@Theo Bacon and @Tanya F. Glad to hear a conversation about greening up our industry! I don't hear a lot of conversation...actually I don't hear any... about how the investor can play a role in this area but there is a lot we can do and most of it does not have to be at high price point. Looking forward to seeing some strides in the future!

@J. Martin thanks for the tips on the site!fix and hold seems like a great strategy because you can buy at a deep discount, force equity, and have cash in your pocket each month. My wife and I are at a turning point right now. Just finishing up our live-in-rehab and she has been offered a job out of town...now the fun begins :)

Liam Goble thanks for the response ! I know what you mean, love working on the property and hate when Sunday night starts closing in. You have a good bit of insight about moving forward and having enough cash flow to replace the day job. Good luck to you, let's get a drink when we have enough cash flowing properties!

Hey Nathan, I just joined the site and saw your post. In the area and have to agree with @Chris L. the group is great, have attended about 3 meetings and get a ton of value each time. Would love to connect with you when you are back in town.

Hey Bigger Pockets! Just beginning to actualize my REI dreams! Bought a foreclosed HUD home 3 years ago when my wife started grad school (a 3 year program) and took advantage of an FHA loan requiring the location be our primary residence for 3 years. Tying things up nicely on the property and looking to begin investing in the multifamily arena (5 and up). Am pretty confident with my handyman skills as well so getting dirty is not a problem! Really looking forward to the next 6-8 months!
