Of all the places you lived, where would you move to right now
I have only ever lived in Wisconsin so I do not have a good idea as to how it compares to other places. I know it always seems that the grass is greener in another state but I want to get some sort of consensus.
The south is only getting hotter. Austin TX has seen the average number of 100+ days go from 14 to 24 in the last 30 years. The north is getting warmer ... I have seen winters here get milder and milder. I could go south, but Illinois has high taxes like California and there is an outflux of people from both states.
To me, the states in the middle seem appealing. Like NC, SC, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Nevada.
But I want to hear what you think. Tell me a place that you have lived before and would be the one place you would live if you had nothing binding you to where you are now.
Live in Nashua New Hampshire now and would love to move back to Las Vegas! But locally, probably gonna sell and move to Merrimack or another more rural town with a lot of land.

I've lived in: NY, NJ, PA, ILL, VA, TN, FL, OH. If I was confined to that list and had to live there full-time I would order it: TN, VA, NJ, NY, PA, FL, OH, ILL, though you could jumble the last 5 and it wouldn't really matter to me. If I had to pick a place right now, it would be right where I live now - I picked this place 26 years ago and I still love it here. I would be OK with having a 1-2 month winter home in Florida just to get a little sunshine, but other than that it's highly unlikely I'll ever move unless/until all of my family & friends nearby are dead or move away. It took me a long time to feel like I was somewhere with roots, and I wouldn't trade that for nifty beaches or 365 sunny weather for anything.
Besides, all of my rentals are here :)

I have lived in DC, MD, TX,GA, & NY. I would move back to TX or Ga.
Lived in CA, Azores, KS, Iceland, ND, Guam, MT, and briefly in HI. I would go back to Hawaii in a heartbeat, either Oahu or Kawaii. Hoping to move back to Oahu beginning of next year;)

Hey Corey. Where and when did you live in Iceland? You ever come visit?
Lived there in 1992-1997 in Keflavik just south of Reykjanesbær. I don’t make may to that side of the world much now:) last time I went in that direction was in 2014. I loved it though, beautiful place!
Amen to that Brotha!
I've traveled to many places like Dubai, UAE, Bueno Aires, Argentina, China (many cities), Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and traveled thought the U.S. I'm still stuck in Southern, California. The weather throughout the year is what keeps me here. I love to travel and hope to visit more places soon after this Covid-19 thing is over.
My favorite place I've ever lived is Alaska. I guess I finished my plan...I moved to Alaska and have never moved away. Over 25 years now! The last place I lived was North Carolina -- It was wonderful.
I have lived in Napa (current), SF Peninsula, San Diego, Mt. Shasta and the Gold Country. For me it’s a loss up between Napa and San Diego, both awesome places to live.
@Kevin Rea where would I move right now? Definitely Raleigh NC . With me being a Real Estate Investor it would be a great place to start investing and also purchasing my home and starting my family.
Morgantown WV, Uniontown PA and Raleigh NC.
Moved to Raleigh NC earlier this year, so far so good. I do not see myself moving anytime soon.
San Diego... No question. the weather, the beaches, the location... I loved it there. So do @Erik Orozco @Ryan Avila and @Maxwell Ventura. My wife's favorite place is Monterey/Carmel, CA
Live in DC now - eh. Grew up in Salt Lake City...it's tripled in size since I moved away 20 years ago... I loved it in the 90s though.
I see Carolinas on a lot of lists... My wife is from Columbia and we spend a lot of time there. Even lived in NC for a stint. I wouldn't mind living there.
Lived in Rio de Janeiro - better place to visit than to live. Lived in Mexico CIty - better place to visit than to live. Lived in Okinawa - that was nice. Lived in Chile - better place to visit.... Lived in Minnesota - it's really nice in May and September.
@Nathan Gesner USAF Vet? Either that or Army.
@Account Closed Raleigh is so great! The people, growth, proximity to ocean and mountains...so much to do and so much opportunity. I have lived here for 10+ years now and have seen it absolutely explode in front of my eyes, no we are also seeing expansion in the smaller cities around Raleigh like Durham, Carrboro, etc.
I will join the growing list of Raleigh, NC supporters! I moved here about 5 years ago (originally from Asheville, NC) and love the area. I can also attest to the sustained growth of the RE market. The competition can be fierce but there are still deals to be found!
@Kevin Rea
I have lived in, in no order, MO, TN, AL, SC, VA, WV, LA, OH. I would take SC or ETN over all else.
Maine, New Hampshire, northern Mass are really underrated areas
Greenville, SC. That's where I am now. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I've been all over the country and there are some great places. But this is home.
I've lived in quite a number of places:
Hawaii (the big island)
San Diego, CA
Virginia Beach, VA
Kentucky
Central Texas (twice)
South Korea
Tacoma, WA
Sierra Vista, AZ (twice)
Monterey, CA
Pullman, WA
Apache Junction, AZ
And as Nathan G pointed out, ""A few stops in Iraq and Afghanistan."
I've spent most of my life in Virginia Beach, VA but I have no intention to heading back to the East Coast where most of my family live. I'm trying to head back to WA before the end of the year to finally settle down. It's pretty expensive out there, especially on the western part of the state, but I love the weather (and I don't mind the rain), the outdoor opportunities with Canada nearby, and I'll be out in the country away from the hustle and bustle along the I-5 corridor. Living there also allows me a chance to visit Alaska and perhaps, have a second home, maybe out in the bush. Another home in Australia wouldn't be out of the question either.
San Diego, CA or Savannah, GA
Spent some time living in and around Burlington, Vermont. Seems like a nice place to be during all of this craziness.
@Remington Lyman - I would move to Athens, Greece permanently in a heartbeat, especially with the current government that has its act together. I’ve lived in Manhattan (NYC), Tacoma (WA), Boston, Washington (DC) — none of which appeal to me for real estate investment. I love New York, but can no longer afford it! I’ve also lived in Mexico City — would not go back — and served in Kabul (Afghanistan) and Islamabad (Pakistan). I spent three years in Athens and definitely see myself going back to retire there one day.
I've lived in northern and southern CALIFORNIA, HAWAII, IDAHO, NORTH DAKOTA, UTAH and ALASKA. I have spent quite a bit of time in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Taiwan and the Dominican Republic.
I will probably stay in ALASKA but IDAHO like it might have potential. I'm also interested to see what NORTH CAROLINA is all about. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it.
@Tim Rostro I could see you liking Skagit County, Washington if you like all the outdoor activities, and some cheaper parts when you go more east where there is also more land
