Any type of electric heat is expensive. I have friends who live in a 1 bedroom condo built in the 70’s with electric heat, they average $5-600/month over the winter.

I am a contractor, own a split level built in the 50’s. I replaced the windows on my main level this summer. Other than a bit less drafty, we notice no difference in heating costs (oil).

@Ben Morris

I agree with @Dennis M and @Jason DiClemente. If he’s not a thug, and rent is still getting paid, what’s the big deal.

We do 30 days notice and they forfeit their security deposit. Usually when people need to go it’s because of lack of funds. No sense in trying to sue. Just take your crap and be on your merry way.

And if they feel so inclined to take the cover off and mess with it, they better hope they don’t touch a 220 line. That would surely teach them a lesson.

Did you not do a walk thru before closing on it?

@Jihan Shareef

I was in a similar situation years back. I showed up to a PM’s office that I did work for on her properties, in need of a quick apartment after my marriage ended with not hint of marital issues that I knew of. I was in an apartment in 5 days. There are good people in bad situations..

@Eric van Dalen

Paying cards off makes no difference. It’s not charging anything that is what’s important.

In 2010 I was waiting to close on a house, I went and bought all new appliances. My mortgage guy was a friend of mine, he made me return them as I opened a Best Buy card to buy them with 0% interest. Close call, it could have ended up bad!

Furnaces are supposed to be hardwired and not plugged into a GFCI outlet. There are GFCI breakers in electrical panels, but ive never heard of a heating system on a GFCI. Or am I missing something since this is in CA...
