Hi I was recently involved in a scam of real estate. Im trying to recoup my loss the best I can I have two options and want to know which one is the best in terms of losses on taxes and getting more money back on my tax rebate.I paid $48k for the property (supposed to be rehabbed but never was) So  as it sits its worth maybe 15-20k. My questions is would it work out better for me to sell or to donate to write the loss against my taxes?

1.) I was offered $5k for the property. I sell and have a loss of about $43k on my taxes?

2.)Dontate to a chairty real estate with causes and somehow get a deduction that way not sure how it works out?

@Eric Hamilton another happy Morris invest customer? Based on your suggestions I’d sell it for 15-20k. You still get the loss against your taxes if I’m not mistaken. No tax advice given. Good luck
