In addition to that, there is a Richmond sub-board right here on BP.

@Sami Gren

Call the police?

I think the other thing you need to look at is how much will you be paying this person you're planning to hire? That could make it not worth it as well.

@Sacha LaCoss

Personally, I would go for Applicant 1. Higher credit score and a mostly secure government position that meets the income requirements on one income.

Why wouldn't you choose them over someone with a lower score and doesn't even make the income limit?

If they didn't pay the federal government, why would they pay you?

Some people just don't like cold calls.

I had my former primary residence broken into after living there for 7 years. They broke in through a rear bedroom window (not sure why they didn't use the sliding glass door). I usually keep all the blinds drawn so not like they could have seen anything inside.

So far as I can tell they didn't take anything, but they left all the lights on. The only thing I can tell they touched was the boxes for my new cell phones that were on the kitchen table. I had the old phones laying right there on the table. They were still there. Laptops. Computers. TVs. All still there.

Cops came. Even dusted the place. Nada.

Ended up replacing all the windows as I didn't want to repair the old 1980s window they broke. Lived there another 3 years before relocating for work reasons without incident.

@Christine Stevenson

This is why we prefer to never have sellers do repairs. They have no vested interest in doing it right. Just right enough to get you to sell on the dotted line and make it your problem.

OP doesn't say where they're at. Cold climate maybe? Inside would help limit damage.

Depending on the sound, it could be the house expanding and contracting as the house heats/cools with the daytime/nighttime temperatures.
