Hello @Rei Reid, you may want to consider verifying your applicant's income as well.  There are recommended tenant screening companies right on BiggerPockets website under the landlord resources tab that can do this for you.  You can also find the link I provided by hovering over the 'Tools' tab and selecting 'Landlord Resources' under 'Services'.

I would recommend doing some research on what company may best fit your tenant screening needs.

Best of luck! :)

Hi @Lee Perry, I think you would find it super beneficial to check out the landlord resources tab on BiggerPockets.  You can find the link I provided by hovering over the "Tools" tab and then clicking on landlord resources under "Services".

BiggerPockets has recommended screening companies that I would recommend looking into, to figure out what company best fits your screening needs.  Best of luck with finding the right tenants for you!

@Krystle Khoo BiggerPockets has recommended screening companies right on their website.  I would recommend checking out the landlord resources tab.  You can also find the link I provided by hovering over the "Tools" tab and clicking "landlord resources" under services.

I would recommend doing some research on what company best fits your screening needs.  Congratulations on your investment!

@Rachel S. BiggerPockets has recommened screening comapanies right on their website.  You can find them on the

landlord resources tab.  You can also find this link by hovering over the "Tools" tab and then clicking on Landlord Resources under services.

I would recommend researching your options and select the company that best fits your screening needs.

@Mason Jeffries I would recommend checking out the landlord resources tab.  BiggerPockets has recommended screening companies showcased on their site.  You can also find the link I attached by hovering over the "Tools" tab and then clicking on "Landlord Resources" under services.

Not every screening company requires the applicant's involvement in the process to place an order.  I recommend doing some research on the companies shown on BiggerPockets and choosing what site may best fit your screening needs.

Goodluck with your investment!

@Nick Webb BiggerPockets has recommended screening companies right on their site under the landlord resources tab.  You can also find the link I provided by hovering over 'tools' and selecting Landlord Resources under 'services'.

I would recommend doing some research on what company best fits your screening needs.

You will find that there are companies out there that will let you input your applicant's information to verify it is valid/conduct the searches for you, and there will also be companies that require the applicant to verify their information to generate the report for you.

@Harris Pantlik Congrats on your first rental investment! BiggerPockets has recommended credit and background check companies right on their site in the landlord resources tab.  I would suggest doing some research on what company may best fit what you are looking for in a background check.

You can also find the link I provided above by hovering over the "tools" area and selecting "landlord resources" under services.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears Smartmove and the standard Rentprep services are both performed by the same company.  While Rentprep has some manual checks as opposed to the fully automated Smartmove, it looks like Rentprep will not provide a credit score while Smartmove will.  Based on this hopefully correct understanding of some of the differences, its why I chose Smartmove: I need a credit score.   Smartmove let me sign up, and then the system emailed the prospective tenants a link.  They went in, filled out the information, paid, and then I was emailed links to the results.

The SmartMove product that RentPrep offers on their site is performed by TransUnion (you will receive a credit score), the only portion of the report that RentPrep touches would be the judgments and liens add on. The RentPrep standard products are hand compiled by FCRA certified screeners in-house. The credit add on for the RentPrep standard option does not provide a score, it provides a pass or fail based on a score you choose and a range that the applicant falls in.

@Mateusz Piasta You are correct, BiggerPockets has recommended screening services right on their site in the landlord resources tab.  You can find this tab by hovering over "tools" at the top and selecting "Landlord Resources" under services.

I would recommend doing some research on what company best fits your screening needs.  You can also utilize the search bar and type in "tenant screening companies" to get some insight into what other real estate investors are doing for tenant screening as well.

Good luck with your investment!
