New renters during COVID

Rei Reid
Posted

I’ve been hearing some rental nightmares about renters taking advantage of the current rent moratorium in some markets. If finding new renters during this time period, anything additional you would recommend asking for than the normal tenant screening process?

Outside of the below, anything else you’d recommend checking:

- Credit Score

- Lines of Credit

- Bankruptcies

- Collections

- Public Records

- Employers on File

- Criminal Records

- Evictions

Hello @Rei Reid, you may want to consider verifying your applicant's income as well.  There are recommended tenant screening companies right on BiggerPockets website under the landlord resources tab that can do this for you.  You can also find the link I provided by hovering over the 'Tools' tab and selecting 'Landlord Resources' under 'Services'.

I would recommend doing some research on what company may best fit your tenant screening needs.

Best of luck! :)
