Don’t buy site inseen unless you are willing to trust others with your money.
I almost did that once only to find out they were powerlines directly across the street which would make it very hard to rent or sell .

why didn’t the agent tell me that?

Not only do you not have to replace the one you just bought ,

but you did not have to replace the first one.
she said she was okay without having any ice water .

giving her another fridge for that reason was a bit extravagant . We are not required to provide a refrigerator with ice water .
in New York , landlords are required to replace anything that poses a safety hazard.
yes , You can add the cost to a rent increase , but you don’t have to mention that’s the reason.
In the future , don’t  let her tell you how to spend your money.

Definitely yearly. You never know what might happen . 4 years is a long time - there is no advantage to doing that.

Continue with the eviction .
she will be nothing but trouble moving forward.

In the future , make sure the security deposit gets transferred from the old bank to yours - as it should be done.

I’d use the cash for a down payment on the biggest multi family units in the best area possible . Can’t lose.

Just curious - why would the landlord be held liable if a tenant commits a sex offense ?
my ex tenant was picked up for smoking pot - I wasn’t held liable for that.

@Matthew Crivelli I am not charging her for the time she’s not there. But she’s putting me on hold and I can’t rent it to somebody else until she makes up her mind.

I posted that my apartment in NYC was rented ( paperwork) Four days after she moved in  the ceiling fell because of roof work being done.

the landlord has asked her to move out for an undetermined amount of time (2-6 weeks.)

she is demanding her money back -  security deposit plus last month rent . I already returned this month‘S rent to her for the time she has to be away .

She’s saying she’ll give it to me again if she moves back in .
But If more than 2 weeks she won’t move back .
Do I give her money back until I know what she’s doing?

also , If I return it, her furniture is there .
should I charge her for storage during the time she is away ?

Appreciate any thoughts/ advice since renting out my apt . is a new situation for me, especially in light of unforeseen ceiling damage.
