Which city/state has the most BP members?

I was just curious which city and/or state had the most Bigger Pockets members. There seems to be a decent amount from Oklahoma and it just got me thinking about other areas.

Luke,
That is an interesting question. My bet is that there are more BP members in the cities with the highest annual appreciation. Maybe Brandon Turner has that data at his finger tips!

Luke - I'm another Edmond person. There are a few from the OKC area.

This is an interesting question. My guess it would be California, but that's no surpise given the population of the state. Even more interesting I think would be the state with the most members as a ratio of their overall population. I wonder if that would give any insight into how "hot" a real estate market is. Would probably take a fair bit of number crunching to calculate though.

Brandon probably knows. I'd venture a guess that it runs along with the population of areas. California and Texas probably the highest. It would be interesting to see a heat map with the information.

Jenkins Ramon, that's a good point. I wonder if you can filter to remove accounts that haven't posted in the past year or so. Waiting for Joshua Dorkin to get looped into the forum to see if any of this is possible.

I haven't got an easy way to filter the data currently, but using our Google Analytics, I can tell you that California is easily our largest user base, followed by Texas, Florida, New York and Illinois -- within Cali, our visitors are mostly from the LA area, followed by SF and San Diego.

In terms of Metro areas, NYC is tops, followed by LA, DC, Chicago, SF, Dallas-Ft. Worth . . .

As for Kyle B.'s query about removing accounts that haven't posted in the last 2 years, that wouldn't make sense. We have many members who never post, but who are privately networking using the site. Even our accounts that are completely inactive for years often come back or respond when there are direct contacts made.

I hope that helps . . .

Shucks, I was going to guess LA and Cali before Josh posted, tons of folks out there. Initially it was a thought with DFW and Texas which in my mind would have been second. Chicago is huge as well. Could be interesting for some niche marketing.

The Show-Me bunch is doing pretty good considering a lower population. :)

You only see a ton of Wisconsin investors on here now because it's the summer and we've all come out of our winter hibernation! :)

Looks like it pretty much mirrors population, both for states and cities.

I figured it would mirror population and such, just thought it would be really interesting if it in fact didn't follow suit. Thanks for the info, Josh!

Another interesting thing to see is not just which state has the most members, but which states most invest in.

I'm a prime example I live in San Diego, CA but I rent out here and have only ever owned property in FL...and never lived in a home that I own myself haha.

Can we see membership locations, instead of website visits (google analytics)? Website visits on a topic like real estate will surley follow population.

I want to know where there are zero members. Less competition. LOL

Joshua Dorkin Brandon Turner I would be curious to see which state/city has the most members whose profile pics are sideways or upside down...
