@Derek Morgen Nice! I work in Ewing/Trenton. Seems to me like a pretty solid market, not too familiar with the other areas. Best of luck with your search.

@Anysa Holder Hey! Yeah, I agree, not too many in Sayreville that's one of the reasons I'm looking further south. Also, Sayreville and the surrounding areas are too pricey for me (Especially the taxes!). Are you looking predominately in the Sayreville area?

@Armando Rodriguez Maybe you can look up the lot's address in the county tax assessor? My parents own vacant lots in Florida and were interested in purchasing a lot next to theirs and I was able to find the owner's name by doing that. Just a thought!

@Derek Morgen I'm also in Middlesex county but looking to invest further south. What town are you looking to purchase in?

@Anysa Holder I grew up in Sayreville as well and still live here. Do you have any rentals in Sayreville?

@Katrina Taylor I started my search for my first house hack in February/March of this year and I'm supposed to close next week(fingers crossed). I had two deals fall through due to issues in the home inspection. Make sure to do your due diligence and have patience. Don't rush to find any deal, make sure the deal works for you and your goals.

I agree with @Will Fraser. I'm in the process of closing my first property and getting a home inspection is definitely a must-have if it's your first property. I went along to the inspection and learned a bunch on what to look out for. I didn't check the permits but wish I had done so because it came to my attention during the CO inspection that the property had a bunch of code violations.

Hey @Ryan Wemegah

There are a bunch of active investors here from south jersey. I'd recommend checking out SJREIA, they host a bunch of meetups. Right now they are all online webinars but they always have great guests.

Also, if you hover over the Network tab you can search members or events in your local area.

@Mahid Angar I’d call them up and see if they can come sooner. Just make sure they don’t charge you a fee or something for making it earlier!

@Tim Zumbo In my opinion, I think it really depends on your goals, ability to save, risk tolerance, etc. I am in a similar boat as you and decided to hold off on paying my student loans off and I’m currently working on my first deal. I feel like there’s pros and cons to each situation and you got to weigh them out to see which would work best for you and your situation.

@Crystal Humphries From my understanding, I think it can, depending on what your debt to income ratio would be after purchasing the single-family investment property. It might be best to go over the scenario with your lender and see what they think.

@Yonah Weiss Still working on closing my first deal but I have a degree in Geoscience.

So far it has helped me because it taught me how to critically think and solve problems which I feel real estate is a lot of.
