I believe that used to be the case Tim, some decades ago. But, after the cold war ended, and specially after the last glorious decade, we're getting farther and farther away from that Tim, whether we like it or not.

With arguments like these, any discussion is futile.
One solution for your angst jawsette would be to declare war on the entire world. You know, pre-emptive, like the W doctrine that Sarah hasn't the slightest clue about.
Like I said, any further discussion on this topic is futile after " everyone wants to come here and tear us down."

Thanks for proving my point Tim, that just about every other civilized country out there has universal coverage.

As far as life expectancy goes, I read that small villages in Greece and China hold the record. It's more about lifestyle than about coverage, you agreed to it.

I'm talking about middle class people driven to bankruptcy and despair by the combination of a job change (or loss) and a severe illness. That's normalcy in an alternate absurd existence not in a country claiming to sit atop of all others.

Well Jeff, I guess it's a matter of perspective. I have friends in Canada also who are not entirely content with their system but in their own words "at least we're not in the US to worry about coverage at any time and to be on the brink of personal bankruptcy (caused by medical bills) should we decide to change a job to one without benefits or God forbid lose our job". But hey, them canucks are socialists, let's not listen to them.

Second, funny you should mention Post Office, I always thought was kinda cool to be able to send a letter across thousands of miles in 2 days for the mere cost of pocket change. But that must be a socialist perception as well...

Yeah, I heard someone in Iceland had a real bad experience with their doctor, therefore... (you fill the blanks with your conclusion here).

Bottom line, check out how many countries in the truly developed world have coverage for ALL their citizens, as imperfect as that may be, and how many allow their weak to go uncovered, with all the consequences that stem from that. And tell us what the results are...

What I find interesting is I have talked with people who know exactly how an universal health care sytem would run (and fail) in this country without ever seeing or experiencing how the system runs in just about any other developed western world country. Well, it's because Rush himself said so!

Well, it's what you'd expect at an event organized and hosted by Berlusconi. It's surprising he didn't have underage girls running around, the old perv.

See Tim, here you go again, my point exactly.
Now, I'll let you apply saliva to your lacerations, and wish you a good w-e.

Ummmmm yeah that tends to happen when a man abandons his responsibilities to a child and a woman he claimed he would marry. Just ask Obama's mom.

Ummm, we were talking about your change in lingo Tim, and somehow you managed to bring Obama into it again. Like J Scott was saying, can you for a minute not drag him into any and every discussion where he doesn't belong? It may be YOUR ultimate argument but not necessarily valid

Here, for a change try to answer to the previous question regarding Cheney...

Ummm, when the McCain-Palin campaign propped him on the stage....

You would not include your daughter's fiancee?

Not if they don't want media scrutiny. Did Darth Vader Cheney brought along his daughter and her (ahem) "partner" to campaign on the stage?

OTOH, for the campaign photo op he was "daughter fiancee" and now he suddenly became "deadbeat dad". My oh my how current events affect personalities... poor self proclaimed redneck sure went thru some transformation...
