I agree with @Paul SandersCharlotte is seeing record lows in inventory. Any single families we put on the market in decent condition under $220k are selling within days many with multiple offers.

Hi Jamal,

I work for Keller Williams. I firmly believe their real estate training is second to none however you need to get your license first. Once you do that chose a company that has great training. Getting your license teaches you about real estate but NOT how to be an agent. Feel free to message me if you decide you'd like to speak to someone at Keller Williams.

Charlotte is a thriving real estate market. Decent rental houses will get leased within days sometimes hours depending on location. There are tons of great areas for rentals but I'd focus on areas with large headquarters. The university area is great because you have Wells Fargo, TIAA CREF, IBM research park and the University. The light rail is also being extended into that area which will be an even bigger draw.

Hi Jamal,

I am a Keller Williams agent. KW has incredible training resources. However, your first step should be to get your license. Once you have begun that process you can start looking at different companies. In fact several of them will most likely come to your classes. Since you are completely new to the business training is critical in order for you to be successful. I am confident Keller Williams would be hard to beat. Feel free to message me if you want more information.

@Will Chitwood,

Charlotte is a great market for buy and holds. There are lots of hot areas and of course lots of areas you want to stay away from. It has become very competitive here for investors, you will need to be ready to jump on any opportunities that come your way.  Do you have any parameters mapped out i.e. price point, age of home, square footage, etc? Are you looking for turnkey properties or are you willing to do some rehab? If so how much? I'd be happy to set you up on some searches if you can narrow things down.

@Joshua Eastman once you narrow things down a bit, let me know if you'd like me to set you up on any mls searches. I'd be happy to help. Side note I'm originally from NY my father was a copywriter there for over 50 years.

Hi Joshua,

North Charlotte is very very active in the rental market.  I am a realtor working in the university area and we have sold tons of properties to buy and hold investors. I will say most of them are the institutional size investors not individuals buying one or two properties.  North Charlotte encompasses a lot of areas including but not limited to University area, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Harrisburg, Concord and Kannapolis.  Finding anything in Huntersville, Harrisburg, Cornelius or Davidson would be difficult but there is still properties to be found in the other areas.  Are you only interested in turnkey properties?  If that's the case, finding one will be a bit more difficult.
