That's what this CNNMoney article attempts to help you figure you .... in fact, Trulia is launching a rent vs buy index for 50 major cities. Always a lot of variables to consider so maybe an index could help some including investors.

I know showings based upon recorded RMLS lock box activity in Portland, OR for the first half of May was way down compared to April ....

I agree Rich especially with #1 & #5 ... as a result, they don't operate in the best interests of their constituents and are always thinking short-term so they can get re-elected.

I'd avoid condos ... lower appreciation and HOA's never allow you to pay it off (and the ever popular special assessments).... 3/2 SFR's easiest to rent and most desirable come time to sell ....
