Hi there! I've thought a lot about RE over the past few months, and have ultimately decided on taking a jab at wholesaling. I am seeking a mentor in the San Antonio area who can help me gain knowledge of how to properly go through the entire process from beginning to end. In exchange for this help, I will offer any two deals that I can find that are worth it (if you of course agree) and am willing to split the earnings. I am also willing to do any other work that may help you with your business (promoting, word of mouth, social media, etc.) I will also be willing to dedicate a couple of weekends to help with any physical work needed such as individuals who are working on fix and flips who need general help moving stuff around, etc.. Any other way I can help I will be willing to in exchange for knowledge on wholesaling from A to Z. Anybody who is willing to take up my offer in the San Antonio area please get into contact, I would love to hear from you and link up as a team. Thank you so very much!

Thanks so much Travis, you answered my question and also gave me motivation to continue! This life we have chosen is precious and I wouldn't want to switch my major to something other than real estate!

Thanks for getting back to me, I truly appreciate it! Yes, that is exactly what I was referring to. I was wondering, starting off trying to invest, I literally don't have my own capital to purchase a home to eventually flip, rent, or sell, so I'd need to borrow, but I wouldn't be able to use interest, so was just curious if there was any other options for me to get started.

As I researched more into my faith, I figured out that I cannot deal with interest (am to refrain from it as much as I possibly can). Is there anyway that I can eventually become a real estate investor/ developer without touching interest? Since I'm not far into my major yet, and am barely in the beginning stages, I'm not too sure about whether or not this is possible. Any enlightenment on this topic would be fantastic. Thanks.

As far as economics, I've decided to not pursue it after all and just to stick with the real estate degree. I hope I can land an internship (school provides opportunities).

Great reading suggestions! It totally is a lifestyle change, I must say. And I'll be the only one to provide for the meanwhile, my baby's just a year old. It's tough but it's completely worth the struggle. I've embraced the struggle.

Thanks for the great advice. Actually my first choice was going to be economics for the exact reasons you've mentioned, it seems to be well-rounded and a great foundation. As for my huge loan, you're right, it was for pharmacy and I unfortunately cannot attend anymore, and cannot finish the degree off. I was able to accumulate that 125k loan and that is a huge burden on me. Thankfully, financial aid will help me for this degree I'm going after now, up till I get my bachelor's. Then I'll apply for the MBA RE program, which will be out of my own pocket mostly. I was going to ask your recommendation as far as living is concerned (I have 1 baby and a wife), would you recommend I look to moving (as I currently live in an apt paying about 800 a month (I kind of find this to be a waste).

Thank both of you for the replies, I will take them into great consideration. I'm still unsure what specific part of real estate I'd like to get into, but I'm worried since I'm already 25 that I'm getting old. And I'm literally sitting on around 125K of loans that I need to payoff with around 8 or 9% (for a degree that I didn't finish nor cannot use (legal reasons), and am starting all over. Regardless, I spoke to my counselor and she said with the amount of hours I was bringing into the school, the charge per class of anything beyond the real estate major would be about x 2.5, so I immediately changed my mind about that (may do my own personal research). I'm just scared to start, and really want to mostly flip or also rent (anything that doesn't require using interest at all, not sure if there's any sectors of real estate that do not use any interest procedures). I'm motivated by guys on Youtube such as Jay Morrison to go in this field. To be honest I'm just doing the degree at university for structure, because I literally am at a very basic level at this but want to advance. I've tried reading ebooks but my knowledge has been scattered. I hope to be able to make a deal before I finish the degree though because I cannot wait any longer due to my age, I feel. I want to make my first deal and see it actually happening.

I'm already attending school for a major of real estate, I'd like to add a second major (which I know you all would not recommend getting a degree in real estate at all necessarily to do this line of work), but if you did, which major, in your opinion would be best? I'll list a few here that I've considered...

Real estate bachelors with a second major in:

1) Economics?

2) Architecture?

3) Mathematics?

4) Statistics?

5) fill in the blank?

Which would be the most helpful? Please try not to discourage me and rather tell me what would most help me become successful in this field (and yes, I'd like to be an investor mainly)...

Thanks a bunch.
