Post: Best licensing course in California - online vs in-person?

Hi Robin,

What kind of learner are you?  Online...or in person being best?  I like in-person classes for learning something new...and online for continuing education.  I wound up finding a local broker interested in offering training for practically nothing. (They hope you will hang your shingle with them once you pass the exam.)  It was a combination of classes in person, and quizzing online. After three months I sat for the exam and passed easily as I had been really well prepared.  This might be an option in your area too?  You would want to contact the bigger brokers to inquire about their training programs.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Welcome Brenda! I'm a newbie to BP and live in the Silicon Valley area of CA. I'm not new to REI education though. At one time or another I checked out all of the REI books from my local libraries, joined a local REI group, and attended workshops. Having experienced all of that, I highly recommend educating yourself right here on BP to get started! The resources are phenomenal! It will also help you formulate your investing goals. Once you have your goals in mind, you can target your education to formulate your plans and networking here on BP.

Happy reading and I wish you great success!

Hi All!

So happy to have found BP through searching for REI podcasts! I have been largely self-educated in REI, so I'm looking forward to filing in the gaps with the expertise found here.

I am Lauren Heart (YES real name/real spelling) living in one of the most expensive areas in the country, Silicon Valley.  I have long wanted to own investment property and was finally able to begin purchasing properties in May of this year.  I am an Art Educator in my community, but also hold a RE license, and have some Property Mangagement background as well.  I have lived all over the country and due to the insane prices in my current backyard, it was easiest to first buy and hold out of state.

A chief primary goal involves setting up the right business structure to scale quickly for future buy and holds out of state. I am also very interested in buying a 4-plex (or larger) in my own backyard that I will house hack and manage.  That of course will require a good deal, and great partnerships as all multi-property here are quite pricey! Long-term goals involve leaving the Art field all together, and being solely in RE Investing and Property Management.  Whooooohoooo!  Nice to be here, and finally on my way!
