@Tom Matousek

Thanks a lot Tom! I will definitely do that! Sending a connection request now!

Hey guys!

I'm trying to educate myself further on the idea of collateral loans and how to obtain one. Considering me just getting started in the REI world (check out my profile for details on my background and where I'm currently at if interested), I'm looking at find out what my best options are for getting my first steps going. My girlfriend and I are currently renting, and will be in a good position with our savings at the beginning of the next year to get our first home loan. Nevertheless, the desire to get started sooner lingers hard. What options do I have now? I did jointly inherit 10.2 acres of land recently, but I don't know exactly what I should do. I don't know that I want to sell the land, as it may be a great investment opportunity later once I have more capital. Can I use it as collateral for a loan? If so, Is it smart to try and use that to get started in buying our first home and

/or REI investments? How do you find a lender for this situation? I have had this on my mind as an option, but have had no luck in finding a lender for my kind of situation.

Thanks in advance for reading, and for any responses given!

Post: How to Use Your Joint Tenant Property Deed

What can you do with, or how can you use a property deed that you jointly own with multiple people?

My grandmother, when she passed, God rest, left a piece of land for me, my father and sister. The land does have significant value in the terms of money. Sentimental value, close to none. Nevertheless, can and how could I use this situation in the idea of using my portion of the properties value? I don’t like the idea of causing unnecessary bad blood between family by force selling the property and having it divided up. The property isn’t ideal in the idea of location, it would attract lower class tenants, so the only option I feel like there would be to add used mobile homes to the property which is ideal, but.... financing the mobile homes might be problematic considering that this property is the only capital value I have currently, with the rest of nearly all of my under 10k personal savings tied in to stocks and cryptocurrencies.

Is there any way that I could use this situation to obtain financing or a loan for a primary residence, a REI opportunity, or other creative option? Are there other options or recommendations on what to do that I'm not thinking about?

Thanks everyone!

@Brett Tvenge

Thanks so much Brett! I’ve connected with a few people here on BP and that seems to be the common denominator. I appreciate the response!

@Antonio Cucciniello

Amen Antonio! Thank you!

I’m looking for highly recommended private and hard money lenders in the Hickory and Charlotte area of North Carolina.  This would be my first Real Estate investment, therefor I am not experienced in obtaining this kind of financing.  Any suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone!

I just recently joined BiggerPockets after reading a couple of Brandon Turner and Josh Dorkins books. I’m new to Real Estate investing so I’m still learning the ropes, but I’ve noticed the exquisite experience and networking skills that many members have here on BP.

With that said does anyone have any suggestions on some groups or meeting locations that they have attended and had some good experiences with in North Carolina? I’m just outside the Charlotte area in Hickory but I’m willing to travel for some great experiences and networking opportunities!

Thanks in advance!

Being new to REI, when working on developing connections and building relationships, how do you identify what groups and REI meetings are beneficial for you for you to attend to network? In taking the steps and finding networking opportunities, the first meeting in my area is coming up and in researching the information about the meeting, the moderators language seems arrogant and unprofessional. I want to learn from, interact, and network with the best. I don't want to repeatedly attend meetings and events where I end up sitting there shaking my head like "what the heck and I'm doing here?" I consider myself a professional, and as you all know, time is one of our most valuable assets. How do I identify what meetings are best for me to attend, and how do I weed out the people that are going to be a sheer waste of time in my growth and development, especially if I'm giving my time and energy in return?
