I self raised my initial seed capital, but did have the opportunity to approach many VCs for the funding early on. Never had any success, I suppose I wasn't clear enough in my pitch, and failed to optimally outline the potential in the investor.

Sounds like the seed capital you will need is next to nil! That sort of business is in heavy demand, and will likely cash-flow itself early on.

I financed my first mobile home in saved up cash, sold it for a moderate to small profit. Struggled with the second mobile home, but was able to do a much better job on the build as a whole. The profits were much better and very nearly fully financed our third build. By the fifth build we were making healthy profits and had gotten the build costs down. I then looked into acquiring a promising piece of land for a park, and the rest is history!

I am in mobile home parks. it seems to me that people who are buying and living in these tiny homes just don't want to accept the social stigma of living in a mobile home. I fail to see the difference, especially considering the rise of Tiny house communities. We build our units in an assembly line type system, which keeps our construction team from having to take breaks between builds. Yes, your first units will be difficult to finance, but you should keep in mind that it will only get easier from the onset out.

I concur with Coombs there, NY, NY is hardly the cheapest place to invest. Where are you looking to invest?

I have enjoyed asia too much! Housing is cheap, labour is cheap, materials are cheap. The lifestyle is expensive. I will certainly shoot for one of these regions in retirement, and I would like to bring mobile housing to them even before then.

Zoysia grass is great, but it's a bit costly! Definitely worth the money if you want to go the natural route on this.

@Account Closed I am certainly willing to change my earlier answer after reading your post. I agree with your thoughts on this, the experience that a high level investor brings to the table can certainly be worth the difference.

@Hank Wu I just tried to access their webpage, looks like they don't exist anymore. @Barbra Thebenyane, any chance you have any information left on these bad actors? Would be great if we could drag Seed for Capital out into the open for a shame and blaim.

Use the insurance claim to do any easy repairs as quickly as possible, and sell the investment asap. That way, you can move on to something new, with the proceeds from the sale to use as seed capital.
