@Christopher Blom Well played, sounds like just as good an explanation as any.

Hello, are there any risks involved with purchasing on foreclosures sales that I am not aware of? This seems like a more affordable way to get into the market, but  I want to ensure all my bases are covered.

Exactly as it sounds, my printer has kicked the can. What home printers do you use? Any specific brand you have found to be more reliable than the others?

I was using an old Lexmark for the longest time, pretty good printer but all good things come to an end!

Where does the term come from? Real Estate? Granted, the estate part seems a given, but why "Real"?

Hi guys, I am putting together a list of required reading materials for success in the REI industry. Care to add your two bits? What pieces of writing do you feel were crucial to your success, if any?

I am not a big fan of crowdfunding! Must have missed the boat on it. I just feel like the ownership of your investment becomes hideously complicated when you have hundreds of small contributions to a single unit.

I know this one isn't totally seed capital related, but :

I tried to tell Jo a joke about a roofer,

it went over his head.

I agree with  @Hank Wu if you are truly interested in investing in startup businesses, but this is a forum for REI, so I have to recommend the co-working space over the small time venture. I have to wonder however, where co-working space will be in 10 years time. How will technology and connectivity change the way we work together and collaborate?

I have a mobile home park under my belt. About a quarter of the units are rented. Others are leased land with purchased units sitting on them (We sold them the units). The rentals are fantastic sources of income for the park, and cost very little to build as we put our units through an assembly line style of building. The benefits of building in volume.

A good building team is what you need. If you are a bean counter type person, you shouldn't have to split hairs on whether or not your foreman is being honest with you. Get a good crew you can trust, and put your trust in them to make the right decisions on the projects you decide upon.
