@Dilman R. I have a multifamily in Rochester, NY and live in SE CT. However, the reason I have that property is because we used to live in NY. It is a good place to invest, but now that we’ve lived in CT for 8 years, I’m more than ready to buy investment properties locally. There’s some good opportunities locally, and I want to be close enough to go over to the property to manage it, instead of self managing from 6 hours away :)

Meeting tonight at East Lyme High School. We are going to be eating pizza and mingling at 5:30, and then at 6pm Joe Malerba, a real estate agent and investor, is going to speak to the group about his thoughts on the market and his investing strategies. It should be a good discussion and a chance to bounce ideas off of an experienced agent.

Hope you can make it!

@Charles Bolin Congrats on your first investment property!  That's pretty awesome that you only had to put in $1,000 of your own money.  There's monthly meetups in the area with other investor to network, etc, if you are interested in joining us.  The next meeting will be on Monday, Feb 25th @6pm (5:30 for pizza and socializing) and we are having a speaker.  Here is the link for the event, hope to see you there!

For our February meetup we will be having a guest speaker, CPA/Investor Ted Lanzaro, who will be talking to us about taxes and real estate investing. He wrote a book called "The Tax Smart LANDLORD" which discusses money saving tax strategies for landlords, and includes the new 2018 tax law changes.

The meeting is going to be in a classroom at East Lyme High School this month instead of the Groton library. Pizza and socialization start at 5:30 and the presentation will start at 6. Please RSVP if you can make it so we have enough pizza.

It should be a really good meeting!

@Alex Romano I help run the SE CT meetups, we'd love to have you join us!  We usually meet at the Groton Public Library, but our next meeting will be at East Lyme High School so we have more space.  We will have pizza and socialization time at 5:30, then a speaker at 6pm.  A CPA/investor will be coming to talk to us about money saving tax strategies for landlords.  It should be a really good meeting!
