You won't know till you try contacting them which one works. They might not even be motivated yet either. Leave a bright colored card on front door of vacant house, mail vacant house, alternate address if you find one, and you might have to repeat this for some time before they respond. Of course calling is fastest way to get in contact, know what your going to say and be cordial. If no results keep following up to try making contact.

Don't get to caught on this house and keep looking for others. It could take months or a year before you get an answer.

@Nicholas Dinis welcome to BP. You've come to the right place to learn about REI. Also, try reaching out by searching your area to find other members to network with.

I use a google voice # for ads. In the end though it all dumps into my cell phone, so either way its all there. I have no problem giving out my cell #, theirs a number of ways to control calls.

@Susan Herschell property manager, owner, investor, partner, caretaker and manager. I think with anything you have a certain amount of bad apples that make the rest of us landlords look bad. Maintenance has alway been a big thing, keep things in working order. Also, tenant relations making sure were on same page and things are clear, can't take things personal.

If you can hold on for 10 yrs why not. How many acres is the piece of land? What does buyer plan to do with the property?

Food for thought. If one doesn't plan for tomorrow the gov will be happy to help you and your heirs when the time is near. They might not provide a lot of choices, create lower limits, it more than likely will be below the minimum care, probably taking any remaining assets and comforts.

If someones is in good health and sound mind when they are a senior, freedom and comfort are a important part of life.
