Congrats on getting started @Jacob Cho ! By any chance do you go to an actual campus? Or are you doing college online? A great strategy for people in college could be purchasing a multi-family around campus and house hack with other students. Also, did the lender run the pre-approval based on a single-family property or a multi-family? If you are looking for multi-family it would make a difference in the approval amount since they will be able to add in average or actual rents toward yours or your brothers income

Hey @Zach Knoll

I manage some but I also use a property manager for some properties. It definitely can help add time back into your life and they can be a great source of information on vacancy rates, current market rent rates, etc.

The key is to find someone you trust, which is why I recommend using Property Management Finder. It can be found in the “build your team” tab on Bigger Pockets. It helps you find reliable property management partnerships and gives you everything you need to make confident hiring decisions, like:

Expert Matching: Match with professionals who meet your criteria

Extra Assurance: Licenses, experience, ratings, reviews, and more that can be cross-checked with BiggerPockets members

Bonus Content: Receive an essential interactive workbook: “How to Interview Property Management Companies”

I can't find a DSCR based HELOC program in NJ either. @Erick Arana any luck? I know that TD and Better do have HELOCS for investment properties, but I believe they are based on your tax returns/income. I'm looking for one that isn't tax return based and strictly DSCR based HELOCS

After having a few airbnbs and doing well with them I have had a few friends offer to let me manage their vacation homes. I’ve read a few different strategies but looking for the best one when managing a Str property for someone. I plan to put their property on my account so they start with super host. I was then going to have them make a bank account that I have access too so the funds go directly to them, with a reserve for maintenance expenses etc
