Wow. Yeah, out of sheer logic, I would have to agree with J Scott. Seems like you're not lacking determination, however! If I was to add something of value to my post, I would recommend reading Ken McElroy's book "The ABCs of Real Estate Investing." Make sure to take advantage of not only the podcasts, but also the resources available to pro members, like the pro-replay (which has helped me a lot), and start playing around with the calculators, which help a ton! Yes, going the Meetup route would be a good idea. It also depends what you're looking to accomplish; for example, there are meetups dedicated just to wholesaling, or there are those that are for REI in general.

My self directed is set up with The IRA Club out of Chicago (Dennis Blitz), and I've heard good things about Equity Trust out of Ohio.
