All this said, you too could be a Serial Mover as I am, and just keep moving into light fixers, stay a year or two, and move on again.

I completely renovated the bathroom in my house for around $6K, all new everything including flooring, plumbing, fixtures, tile, drywall, lighting.

And I am ok with that, again due to my financial goals and personal plan.Personally as a "rule" the 1% rule (and sometimes quoted 2%) is not really realistic, much like the idea of a single income household stopped being realistic for the most part in the 70-80s.

Security system, lights, fencing off the property during rehab, talking with neighbors to keep an eye out, etc.

and at the end of the day, we need to be able to use common sense in getting into a door.Yes, you will need a WiFi set up to control the lock at your location and a very cheap subscription if you want to control the locks remotely - but you don't have to.Beware of shiny, good "Apple" design looking products made of cheap and light plastics, especially when it comes to longevity and the heavy mechanics needed to withstand millions of physical movements and human force.Also, remember the water- and weatherproof factor.The "on top of door deadbolt" solutions are NOT preferable over the inside lock solution.

And now that I know about such an absurd policy, I think I should at least try to bring it to light, get it changed and warn people about it.

I filter all phone calls and have good cameras set up that take clear video in all lighting conditions just in case.
