BP is a great resources with several tools at your disposal (forums, blogs, podcasts, fileplace, and more), so make sure you spend some time to familiarize yourself with site and its offerings.

If you can swing it, do the pro basic membership, as it allows you to connect with more colleagues, though it's not necessary, it is the best value you will find from any site.

As far as time to do a septic, I can do a septic in one long day from start to finish if all materials were on site and inspections werent necessary but that is never going to happen.
