In GA due to hot and cold weather extremes the roofs expand and contract and wear out much faster than the warranties.How many layers of shingles are on the roof now??

The tree it turns out roughed up the roof a bit so we trimmed it and repaired some shingles.

I am going to be using LP smartside instead of vinyl siding which is going to cost an extra $3,000-$4,000.I suppose when I build a spec house I would opt for asphalt shingles ($1.50/square foot) and do good double pane windows for half the cost of triple pane and still have it be good quality, energy efficient, and attractive.
