Since I have access to a high-throughput color printer, it occurred to me that printing out creative tri-fold "self-mail" pieces (no envelope, sort of like a brochure) might be something worth trying.  

I have my printer do it all.... mail merge, print envelopes, stuff them, mail them. 

An effective marketing machine requires more than just having a desk top printer and a list, just as it takes more than a wrench and an owner's manual to tune up a car.Hope that helps!

I think you might be able to find local printers that can do simple mailers/postcards, however, if you're really looking to get creative with your mailers so you stand out, I can almost guarantee there are only a number of print shops that can do this due to the additional cost of the mailers.

I know its just appearances, but really if a guy pulls up in a beat up 78 ford and hands me a business card without an address (or worse, one printed out of an inkjet printer), it makes me ask myself why.

You can buy the sheets and have them cut to size at a local plastics supplier, and have any printer paint or create a vinyl decal for your company info.

It was very time consuming I only sent out about 50 before I got a printer and I am sending out a formal letter at the moment.

I also had some trouble with my printer and ended up buying a new one, which wouldn't take the yellow letter paper I had on hand, so I had paper of a heavier weight, etc.At this point I'm back on track.
