Its a tough situation for us. The couple are very old and very nice. They pay on time. The old man is a retired police officer. But hes a chain smoker lol. The lease is up in July. We will have to figure something out asap. 

@Deanna McCormick thats a good question. We will call the second floor tenanats and make sure they are not smoking in the hallways or stairways.

In our triplex the third floor tenant texted us yesterday complaining about the second floor tenant smoking cigarettes. There is nothing in our lease that forbids smoking cigarettes. We are not sure how to answer the tenants complaint. 

Can someone advise us on how we should respond?
