hi @Scott Bustos

I am looking to house hack from listing on the mls. I receive daily market updates from the mls and analyze deals daily. I am looking for a multi family and an FHA loan.

Welcome @Geet Doshi

Welcome to BP!

I would recommend house hacking- Eventually you will move out and have at least 2 units that cash flow.  Study your market, and get to know what are good deals so you can act quickly.

Hi @Carlton McLaurin

I would begin with house hacking if possible. Choosing your investment strategy will depend on your needs and your market. First, understand your market and study what sells, and what are the good areas. This will help you find a good deal in your area.

Hi @Sean Shields

I am glad you are looking into house hacking! It may take a while to find a very good deal but will be worth it once you purchase.

@Thomas Franklin Yes I am looking for an FHA loan and house hacking for Duplex, Triplex.

Thank you for the post. I did not realize I would not have asset protection. This is definitely something I will look into for purchasing my first property.

I understand Mortgage brokers are concerned for their commissions, and not my best interests. I will look into the LLC so I am protected.

Hi @Cody May

It is great you are looking to house hack, with 9k saved you may be able to do an FHA loan which is 3.5% down. With this you are an owner occupant and live in the property for 1 year.

The podcasts are a great source of info and members on this site are very helpful!

Hi @John Chea

I am also starting an looking to begin in multi families.

The FHA is a good idea- 3.5% down but your choice in how to invest depends on your market.

Study the areas on interest and you will understand what is a good deal or a bad deal in your area.

@Robbie Reutzel @Thomas Franklin very helpful info! I am also in MA looking to invest primarily in multi families. It would be disappointing to attend a meeting and it "sell" or have a sales pitch.

I am looking to also purchase a multi family property and to house hack. It is a great starting point. I am planning on living in and becoming an owner occupant for a year then moving to a second property- a multi family. Good luck!

learn about the area, make sure you get an understanding for the target rents. I use pad hopper and craigslist to determine the prices of the area. The surrounding houses should be in good condition, and taken care of. I also am looking for duplex or a multi family property
