Hi all,

Please join us tomorrow for the Rocky Hill/Greater Hartford, CT REI Meetup.

We'll meet at 7pm at the Wood N Tap in Rocky Hill, pause for introductions at 7:30, followed by more mingling.

Everyone's welcome, from newbies to the seasoned investor. To get the most out of the meeting, come prepared to share your experience, what you're looking for and what you can contribute.

The meeting is free but I do ask that you buy a drink or some food (or both) and take care of the server so the restaurant will continue to let us reserve and use the back room for free.

If you're in the following areas, this might interest you! Glastonbury, East Hartford, South Windsor, Manchester, Vernon, Hartford, Rocky Hill, Bloomfield, Wethersfield, Newington, Middletown, Berlin, Bristol, New Britain, West Hartford, Farmington, Simsbury.

And put next month's meeting on your calendar now because it's our last meeting of the year: 11/15.

See you tomorrow!

Stephanie

Yes @Nicole A. - I don't like that they might not be getting along with the neighborhood but I would prefer that over animal abuse any day. I haven't responded to the calls but my only concern with that is I don't want to have a reputation as a derelict landlord who's bringing the neighborhood down. My properties are in nice neighborhoods and I take pride in putting good people in them. I like my reputation at this point, but need to balance that with being overly responsive because I imagine a scene just like you had where they're calling whenever they feel like it. I have a tenant like that now, he was upset b/c the yard was lumpy and it took a long time to mow and then he found a spider in the house. I finally had to tell him I wouldn't respond anymore to items that don't require my attention.

Thanks all, I called animal control and they only have a record of 1 call for barking, not abuse. I asked about the conditions the animals were kept in and she said they were healthy and the outside area is sufficient for dogs their size. I do like the idea of including language that addresses suspicions of abuse and we also do animal meet and greets. Animal control suggested that this may be more of an issue of the neighbors not getting along than neglect so at this point, there's no necessary cause for action.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm glad this was a false alarm and now I have more experience than I did 2 days ago.

Best,

Thanks @Jay Hinrichs - if the police have come and done nothing, do I have grounds to evict them? My plan right now is to tell them to surrender the dogs to a rescue organization or I'll evict.
