No, I haven't bought in Laurel, however I  do you know that Laurel is split between two counties: PG and Howard. It's more desirable for people with kids to be in Howard county because the schools are much much better.

Post: HELOC! Would you recommend it for my first deal?

I personally wouldn't tap into HELOC for a first deal. Yes, it's a good rate, but you're too green to know what you're doing and it's harder to recover from mistakes if you're working with borrowed money. Too stressful for me personally! Save up the money for your first deal and start small -- you'll feel a higher level of achievement and won't be hurt as bad in your overall financial picture if you make a few mistakes.

Welcome Eric! I love your enthusiasm and am impressed that you know what you want to do as a college student! You're at the right place. Read posts. Listen to pod casts. Absorb everything you can and ask questions. BTW, are you handy/skilled in rehab work? I'm looking for some help on a foreclosure that I'm closing on in a few weeks. Might be a good opportunity to learn as you earn if so.

Best,

Ruth
