Just curious about your experience with any of the deals on Angie's list? For example, I was tempted by an offer for one time fee for a general contractor for 40 hours. And today I see a deal for 4 hours of roofing work for $99 by a roofer with an A rating and hundreds of great reviews.

Welcome! Great place you've found. I'm actually looking for someone who loves to work on houses to help with a foreclosure going to settlement in a few weeks.

Are there insurance companies/agents that work specifically with rental properties? I've been going to my State Farm agent I've had for years, but ran into a snag. They won't insure the property until it's rented which leaves me with the liability if something were to happen like a fire during the rehab time. I haven't closed on the property yet, but it seems a huge risk to not have insurance from closing date to tenant move in date. Thoughts?

I am fairly new to the site too. I'm started real estate investing in Baltimore county when I moved my retirement funds to a self-directed IRA last Fall. I have purchased and rented 2 condo properties so far and I'm waiting to close on a townhouse near Ellicott City. This one is a foreclosure and will keep me busy the month of April as it needs substantial work.

From what I've seen so far, this site has great information and networking opportunities. I wish you the best of luck as you get started! If you're looking for an agent that services Howard and Baltimore counties, I can recommend a great one. After I get this 3rd property rented, I'm considering branching off into a multi-family property.
