I had this happen to one of my units, 1 week after a tenant moved in! It was no one's fault, as the condensate line was clogged. Once the AC had been running for a while it occurred. Destroyed carpet and laminate. I never realized how much water the AC makes.

My insurance covered it all. Try that route.

I split the water bills per capita. Seems to work well.

Oh, and water is...NOT CHEAP. I would lose several hundred/month if I paid for it.

NEVER, EVER, trust a tenant with ANY excuse, especially "problem with my bank".

When I was a student, the only check that I ever bounced was to my landlord...and it actually WAS a bank error!

Seems that they added a ZERO to the prior check ($75 became $750) and this left nothing for the rent.

Toxic? To which species, as I have never known a normal human to be harmed by these products? I am sure that some have sensitivities, but that still will be very rare.

I don't know if this will work, but I use one of the ear-drying solutions to remove band-aids from the skin with good success. These contain alcohol and glycerine.

I still believe that the mold issue is overhyped. The issue with mold in the insulation is more about WHY it is there. Where did the moisture come from?

The mold itself is easy to kill, and it is everywhere. Just add water in any home>>>MOLD!
