I'm new to all this, and have a lot to learn. I realized it's not windows I need, but replacement glass. From Sears and the $4500, I have one ballpark price for just the needed glass, at $1122, and they are coming next week to measure for in home estimate. Another co was here today to measure. I should have that estimate tomorrow. It will be much less than sears.
I'm used to looking out the "window" that when I thought about fixing them, I thought "window" not glass.
Thanks for your thoughts. You helped me see my way through this....

Thanks. That was helpful. I did get a door blank at HD yesterday. I also got hinges. It occurred to me that I would just take the hinge pins out, and plan on this first one to use a new hinge on the new door. If we run into a problem--my friend has never installed a door, and I haven't either-- we can, if needed, rehang the old one. I have 4 doors to do. 3 will be the hollowcore, and the one on the MB, off the living room, will be the last, and a better one. These are going in the house I plan to sell. Originally it had them, putting them back in will make a difference, I think.
Thanks for your response.

A few times I've tried to read a particular thread from the first page, and can't get to it. I click the link, and rather than going TO that link, the page resets to that page. The most recent is the thread, "TSA Harassment again - this time of a mother who is following the TSA's printed rules."
I've clicked that numerous times over the last few days to read it, and can't get to it. It's happened with a few others, I figured these were glitches that you folks would work out, butam now bringing it up.
How do I get there from here?

How do you keep the towels and other smaller stuff from disappearing?

In some places, you can cross check with the county assessors office for the true size.

I have appointments with 2 other companies, and will get bids from local window companies, too. I like the idea of a credit. That way the buyer could get less or more expensive at their choice. The low-e will make a difference in summer cooling costs, to be sure.

As part of my thinking re selling my house, I wonder about window replacement.
I have a 3 bay window in the dining area, one kitchen window, and the large living room window that have condensation between the panes. The 3 bay and kitchen miniblinds are almost always closed because of the view--the bedrooms of the house next door.
I just had a SEARS salesman here: $4500 for all of them, 20 years, transferrable warranty. Firm price, even if they find (or do) damage that needs repaired.

Based on what I know today, I would plan to list my house at about $115000, without new windows. If I replace them, is it going to bring enough value that I could raise the price to cover them?.

I hope to put my residence up for sale in a few months, and plan to stage kitchen with a new crockpot and a basket of greens, table and chairs, M bath w/basket of greens, possibly shower curtain, seat cover, living room with couch and 1-2 easy chairs, coffee table, yard with patio table and chairs
Nothing in bedrooms.

How hard is it to replace an existing door? Removing the door that's there now requires removing the screws from the hinges and taking the door down.
Then what? My handyman has never replaced a door. Can we just take the measurements to home depot? Do they make the cutouts on the new door for hinges and knob?

Thanks--the frames are in the walls, the walls are finished--I'm simply replacing the doors. The house originally had panel doors that were removed at some point in the 15 year life of the house. I am getting it ready to sell, and want to put panel doors in it again.

I hoped there is a simple inexpensive tool or a few tips to replacing the doors. Easy to get the ones that are there, off, just need to get the new ones to fit the hnge screw holes and latch hole...
