hey @Robert Richards , congrats on making the decision to change your life for the better ! i agree with all of the post above, a mentor will cost you money only if you want it to. many people have different learning styles , some learn easier by just reading books and other need some one there to show them how its done ( like me ). I think finding your self a mentor is a great idea but be creative about how you do it, put your self out there and show them how they can benefit with you on their team, express what type of skill you have, maybe that something there lacking in also be willing to get your hand dirty and help any way that you can. Other way to find a mentor is just emailing people on bp or go to local meetup up and starting a friendship, your friend help you do things because you have something in common and because they like you as a person, the same apply when it come to real estate.

best of luck in your real estate journey, hope this was helpful and encouraging

@Everett Morris , good luck finding a mentor. They are hard to come by , you have to put your self in a mentor shoe and think what can Everett do to better my business ? Learn the skill that you need to get started and a mentor will just be their to help you with the finishing touches if you get what i mean. Start with the tip that i gave you and sooner or later someone will come your way.

WOW @Everett Morris

congrats on choosing a path in real estate at such a young age , join some reia group and read all of the book BP has to offer , that should give you a idea about what aspect of real estate is right for you.

Hey @Brad DeLorme

One good advice would be to dry call as you stated but most of the people you will dry call are already season investors. so my question to you would be what can you do to help their business grow and in turn you learn from them? one of the easiest and fastest way to go under a investors wing will be to become a bird dog ( aka find them deal and work with them on the deal and make a 60/40 split)

good luck

Hi all! I recently attended a real estate meet up event here in Brooklyn and I was very much impressed with the awesome people I met. Meeting Shawn Ackerman and Damon Bodine was great, as well as all the new contacts (Mortgage Brokers, CPA, & Investors/Wholesalers) I met that evening. I would highly recommend anyone looking to connect and mingle with those in this industry to attend the next event. It was great night to not only learn some new things, but make new and important connections.
