@Noam Adler - I think your name is clever and humorous. If you're not advertising it, then I don't see why not.

Steven Delhaas Per my RE attorney here in CA, he says that you can have an LLC in one state and also use it in another state. But you have to register it in that other state as a local/domestic business, and you still need a registered/resident address in said state.

Aaron Smith - not one forum specifically. It was someone who responded to a post and I noticed that they were a RE attorney in my area. Then I just reached out.

Yes. Definitely get with a RE attorney. I found a CA one right here on the BP forum. I honestly was too scared to do it myself in fear I would check the wrong checkbox or whatever. I think it's worth the investment.

I just did this. I'm in CA but forming an LLC in NC. I paid $99 for one year (cheapest I've seen) to get a resident/registered agent address through InCorp Services. Cheaper rates the more years you pay for up front.

David Dachtera - good advice. I've never heard it structured that way, but it makes sense. I'm in the same boat. Closing on my 4th conventional loan here shortly. And now what? I was asked if I thought about starting an LLC for my new REI business. I guess it's time to start one. Now I'm also looking to buy a commercial property for me and my husband's machining business. But we just got an LLC for it, so from what I hear, our 4yr old business is only a month old and has no history or track record to even try to purchase a commercial building.
Hi Vincent Priore - I'm new to BP and just curious how this worked out for you. Did you purchase a property to house your business? We're thinking of doing the same thing.

I'm trying not to @Nigel Whitmarsh but can't help myself. Then I realize that many people are already aware of this.

Thank you Nigel Whitmarsh - I just fell in love with Wilmington and have been there 4 times since March.

Hi Tim, Welcome! I'm a newbie too in California. And yes. I am also looking at out of state investing opportunities where I have friends or family living nearby for that very same reason. Awesome news on the multi. That's what I plan to purchase next. Cheers! Melyssa
