@Joe Splitrock

My address on w2 and driver's license are both NJ. Over 12k tax was witheld in CA state tax , my CPA indicated I will be receiving little over 5k as tax refund from CA and I owe over 5k in NJ .Looks like I will end up paying over 7k as state tax in CA :-( as well

Hello,

My employer is in CA and I worked remotely from NJ in 2020 , I also own a multifamily in NJ and earned rental income in NJ. Do I owe taxes in both states even though I did not live in CA?

Thanks

Yes I am pre-approved. Is Oakland good for multifamily investment?

@Kumar Gaurav Hi Kumar. Can you be a bit more specific? Are you considering buying (investing) in a condo, single family home, apartment building, etc?

 Current primary home is a Duplex , house hacking was going really well,I am literally living for free and even cash flowing a little bit, but now I need to relocate but as I understand California market is not great for cash flowing multifamily properties. So, my goal is simple now a single family primary home (or a condo) where I can raise my family in a good school area at the same time I don't want to invest over a million dollars on a single family which is at a commutable distance to SF. Is Tracy a viable option?

Hello,

I am relocating to San Francisco due to job what is the best place to invest right now? would it make sense to invest in Sacramento keep family there and visit family during weekends? are there any other places worth investing, I am open to places that are 2 -3 hours away from  San Francisco with decent schools. Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks

Bitcoin juggernaut has begun its rampage yet again and has been appreciating ridiculously so why not invest in Bitcoin instead of real estate without all the hard work that goes into realestate investment? a classical argument for this question is Bitcoin investment is a speculative investment but so is realestate? I am interested to hear other arguments.

@Tony Nardini

It's a 2 units property

@Sayli Mulay

I know few people whose rate increased substantially due to a heloc.

I am curious why one would refinance if there is already a heloc available, to reduce interest paid? If reducing interest is the goal wouldn’t it make sense to follow the follow steps?

1) Paydown the principal of existing loan using heloc.

2)Recast the current loan ( instead of refinancing) to lower monthly payments

3) Start using heloc as q checking checking , since the rates are almost zero in a traditional checking account.

This is just one cost effective way of reducing interest costs I can think of and it costs almost nothing

without going through any closing costs.

Hello,

I am actively looking to refinance my mortgage and one of my impediments is the miscellaneous closing costs of a refinance (appraisal,lender's title insurance etc.).It's costing me over $800 for appraisal and over $3000 for lenders title add it to it the lenders fees it is costing over $5000 to refinance (excluding prepaids).It looks like there is no way to avoid these miscellaneous  fees so I am actively shopping around to see who can give me the best discount for lender's title insurance ,I will appreciate if anyone here can provide me with some recommendations for title companies (in NJ)  as that's eating up a major chunk of the refinance savings.

Thanks
