@ Ray H - Love the way you think Ray H, We had to do the demo permit just to get work started. If I could go back in time, I would of done a short form new kitchen and bath and skim coated the existing walls. I guess we all learn one way or the other. My budget went out of control and couldnt hold it as a buy and hold after I typed the words " FULL GUT REHAB" on my permit aplication, lol Will never ever ever use those words again.

Also becareful on three deckers because they may see doing all the kitchen and baths as removing more than 50% of the drywall, then you can start looking for sprinkler companies.

Ray H, If your around would love to meet up with you netwrok and talk shop, think I am actually showing a property on washington st in dorchester this sunday.

try to secure a short form "new kitchen/new bath permit" if your not doing any major renovation work such as gutting all the walls or demoing a lot of walls.

If you apply for a long form you will end up waiting a month for planning to check all the codes on your plans.

Short form can save u a lot of time also base your prices of rsmeans.com.

Also beware of stretch code requirement. I've dealt with Boston permitting many times.

Reach out to me if you like to meet and talk more.
