@Scott Schultz Good to know and thanks for the offer! I haven't been there myself in 25 years! Would love to see how the area has changed.

Hello, @Charles Heard! I am new to real estate as well, other than having bought my own home in Bellevue in 2008, just after the peak of the market bubble. Yes, I still overpaid. :) But it has all come back now, and as you said, the market IS really hot right now for sellers.

So I am not in a position to give you broad advice, but since I actually live here, feel free to let me know if there are any specific questions I could help you answer about the property's location within the city, or anything else you can think of.

Best wishes!

@Alan Meyer Yes! Orange County is tough, I'm sure! I was born in Madison and have relatives in northern WI (Rhinelander).

@Cailyn Aune it's great to hear from another Chief Home Officer! Have you been to any local meet ups or REAPS type meetings? I hear there are some good ones down your way. Let's definitely keep in touch and cheer each other on!

Thanks, @Tracey G.! Good luck to you, too!

And thanks also to you, @David M.! Do you ever make it over my way for local meet ups? Thinking I will attend the 4/8 meetup in Kirkland. Either way, let's keep in touch!

Thanks for all the encouragement, you guys!

@Cassie Sherie -- good point!

@Kevin Wall -- thanks for the advice! I will check out your profile to see what makes you a turnkey specialist and how I can pick your brain. :) I definitely want to be an investor rather than a landlord.

@Alan Meyer -- I love the podcasts, too. Since I live in an expensive area, my best choices may be either to move out of the city a bit or to look in totally different markets. I am not totally committed to either concept. Open to considering everything at this early stage in my research. :)

Hello, @Naomi Pinger! I am a newbie to BP as well, and even more so a newbie to real estate investing. But I had to chime in here because I worked in health care as well (and my husband still does) so I know what that's all about. Wishing you great success and hope to see you around the BP forums!

Hello, @Cassie Sherie! I'm new here as well, living in Bellevue. I went to the last REAPS meeting here in Bellevue, and will attend one of the meetups soon as well. Hope to see you around! Best wishes!

Note to @Alex Chin -- I appreciate that advice to sit tight and learn the ropes before jumping in. That was pretty much my plan anyway, but it's good to hear someone else caution newbies along those lines. :)

Hello, everyone!

Been lurking for a bit, since I am too new to add much yet. But I figure it's time to introduce myself anyway. :)

I am so thankful to be here, with access to good information and new relationships! I found Bigger Pockets via a friend of mine who is already a successful landlord (with properties in WA and AZ) and BP junkie.

I live in Bellevue, WA, where my husband and I own our first and only property -- our single family home. We have talked for years about buying a second home, and I'm finally ready to get serious about making it happen. In fact, the more I read, the more I realize we were thinking WAY too small!

So I am here to learn about all aspects of real estate investing, but first and foremost I am interested in buy-and-hold rentals. My goal is to maximize our financial freedom over the next 15-20 years, though I haven't set numerical goals yet.  I suspect that we will initially invest in turnkey properties with professional property managment, because we have no background in any industry remotely related to real estate. [Both of us work(ed) in healthcare.] But I am open to adding other strategies over the long term, and to thinking bigger than single family units.

I hope to meet some of you at local events, and chat with others here as we all take this incredible journey. Thanks for the community, @Joshua Dorkin and for the podcast, Josh and @Brandon Turner! Cheers!

Just following up, @Angelique Tinney! I came to the meeting and really enjoyed it. Our table even won one prize and ALMOST won another. :) I can see how I will learn a lot from every meeting. By the time I arrived, the venue was so crowded (in a good way!) and you were so busy that I didn't interrupt you to say hello. Next time I'll come really early and say hello. Thanks for running a tight ship and thanks to anyone else who was there for making it all interesting! I'll be back.

Thank you, @Angelique Tinney! I'll see you there!
