I invest out of state and I think it is definitely manageable, especially with today's technology. @David Greene wrote an awesome book on long distance real estate investing.

@Nero Leblanc, Congratulations! Huge blessing and opportunity if you swing it right. Overall, just remember to eat the elephant one bite at a time. Take things slow, as others have said build the educational base, and start building a team. Find a good agent and get in their pocket, pick their brain, as well as a good property management company. Whereabouts are the homes?
