Regular monthly maintenance on an STR property can be deducted from taxable income?

EG. Lawn / garden care, pool care etc?

Hello,

If I were to travel somewhere to look at investment properties (would be my first), how would I go about deducting this travel from my taxes since I don’t actually own a property yet?
