Welcome! I do property inspections and fix and flip investments here in the triangle area. I'm looking forward to the next BP meet up so let's keep in touch and try to meet then.

Aaron, Welcome to BP and to the Triangle! As inspector, I work with investment clients and personal residence clients. As an investor, I look for a fix and flip and buy-and-hold opportunities. I'd love to get together for lunch sometime this week if you would. Britt Treece

Chris, welcome! One of my clients last year told me about BP, and it's been a great learning experience. I do residential and commercial inspections, and I'm gathering investors for fix and flips and buy and holds. I'm happy to grab a burger with you and talk about working together. Thanks!

@Wendy Carroll Welcome! We come down to do residential and commercial inspections in the Fayetteville area every now and then. It's great to hear from a broker and an investor down there.

I've been doing some research on the wake County real estate records, and I see some depreciation in areas that were initially overpriced, generally more average type homes in east and south east Raleigh. On the other hand, some areas make incredible gains in just a short time. Inside the beltline is one of those areas, for instance. As one of my realtor friends says, Raleigh is not one market but a bunch of micromarkets.

THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE.

As a private inspector, the egress issue always concerns me. I don't know the codes in Chicago, but the codes in Raleigh, NC, allow the need for secondary egress to be cancelled out with a full sprinkler system. It might be worth looking into.

Sounds like a clear plan. Talk to Michael Deaton at Deaton Investment Real Estate, and my commercial inspection company, WBTreece Consultants, would be happy to help with any property inspection needs (environmental, structural, capital expenditures, upfitting).

Thanks!

London Stewart and Isaac Howell I liked Dawn Brenengen 's advice: find a related field and learn as much as you can. I have enjoyed starting my own home inspection business and growing from there. InterNACHI.com is a great place to learn what it takes to become a home inspector.
