Post: Being a Realtor and an Investor?

I want to get a real estate license to understand my market better but the fees to join a brokerage is hefty. (1k for Keller Williams) Since I don't have much money should I start selling houses as a realtor or just focus on wholesaling? My reasoning is that i'm not sure if the $1000 would be worth spent without doing realtor activity, but I feel that realtor/investor activities do not intertwine so it wouldn't be productive. Thoughts/Opinions?

Hello,

I'm trying to raise money to start my future real estate venture and I understand plenty of people use hard money and private money. The thing is I do not have any experience yet so i'd like to raise enough to do 1 project and have my credibility rolling from there. I'm currently a full time college student working a part-time 20-30hrs/week but I don't think that's enough I currently only have 2k. Right now i'm starting out so i'm just focusing on education but I want to be raising money at a rate that I can achieve my goal to start a RE career by the time college is over. (7-10k)

What would you guys advise if you were in my shoes?

Best Regards,

Brian Tran

Hello BiggerPocket Investors,

I'm looking for advice to network with others as a young investor. Ideally, I would like to form genuine relationships with others and maybe even find a mentor. I have been studying and listening to podcasts so I have an understanding of real estate as a whole but lacking in the hands-on experience aspect. I want to be able to conversate with other investors but I'm worried that although I'm motivated and serious about real estate, my young appearance and lack of experience could make others fail to take me seriously.

I plan to start with a 30-second summary intro to introduce myself: and during the conversation I could chip in my 2 cents whenever there's a topic I'm familiar with.

For mentors I'm open to offer my assistance in anyway I possibly can to be able to learn a thing or two because I would feel uneasy to leech off of someone.

I would love to hear your story if you've been in a situation similar to this.

Best Regards,

Brian Tran

Hello investors,

I am trying to narrow down the mortgage options for a future house investment within the next year. I'm looking for a loan (around 50k) without a down payment and with an institution. I'm in the process of getting a credit card so currently I have no credit and i'm working a low-wage job ($10/per hour) making around 800/month with about 500-600 to spare. I see that there are many options and honestly it's sort of overwhelming how many options there are. I'd like to get to narrow these options before I undergo "analysis paralysis".

Thank you for taking the time for reading my post and helping a new young investor!

Best Regards,

Hello Pro Members,

I am needing help accessing the bonuses that come with becoming a pro member.

I just recently became pro and I was greatly interested in the bonuses of becoming a pro member. Such as the free E-Book on "Investing With No Money Down" by Brandon Turner, interview content with successful investors, and the 25 hour Bigger Pockets session. I am having a problem figuring out how to access them on the website.

Sorry if finding this out is incredibly easy, I am just starting to get the hang of the website's features.

Best Regards,

Thanks! I never thought about thinking from that perspective!

Hello investors,

I want to get opinions on when I should pursue a mentor. Is there a level of knowledge that I should pursue and if there is what is it? (Not being taught basics I could easly learn more interested in the experience aspect)

I am just starting to get into real estate with no prior experience and I'm currently pursuing a real estate license. Ideally I want a relationship where both sides would benefit and I thought I could do that by having a RE license. Even some handy work wouldn't be a big deal to me. I do not want to waste anyone's time. I am serious about real estate investing so I would love the opportunity to job shadow.

I currently don't have any family or colleagues that are associated in real estate to reach out to in the Oklahoma City area.

For those of you who may have been in my shoes what have you done?

Thanks for your input in advance!

Sincerely,

Brian Tran
