When should I reach out for a mentor?

Hello investors,

I want to get opinions on when I should pursue a mentor. Is there a level of knowledge that I should pursue and if there is what is it? (Not being taught basics I could easly learn more interested in the experience aspect)

I am just starting to get into real estate with no prior experience and I'm currently pursuing a real estate license. Ideally I want a relationship where both sides would benefit and I thought I could do that by having a RE license. Even some handy work wouldn't be a big deal to me. I do not want to waste anyone's time. I am serious about real estate investing so I would love the opportunity to job shadow.

I currently don't have any family or colleagues that are associated in real estate to reach out to in the Oklahoma City area.

For those of you who may have been in my shoes what have you done?

Thanks for your input in advance!

Sincerely,

Brian Tran

Brian it really depends on what your focus is.  My mother sold real estate for 20 years and she was great at it!  However if you want to get into owning rentals and or fix and flipping homes that is a whole different ballgame as each come's with their own experiences and fundamental knowledge! Real Estate sales by itself is doggy dog!  Your going to have to build yourself a name for selling and listing properties.   You'll need to maximize your interactions anywhere you can.  Get that first 1k of business cards printed out after gaining your license.   I'll give you a tip that made my mother very successful after finding and signing a listing.  It was her ability to get the home owner to fix lil things and the way the house was maintained and staged for buyer viewing!  Another tip since you haven't mentioned any experience in anything else related to Flipping, buying ect Id say a positive for you would to go out and get a home inspection license.  This will give you a double stream of income and give you insights into buying rental property or fix and flip.  Right in your back yard there is trainer Jack Werner google him!  At any rate Good Luck!
