Experienced Investor, New Member from Quincy, Mass
Hi all,
I'm new to BiggerPockets and wanted to post an intro. My day job is with a National CRE lender, and hunting elephants is fun ($2MM minimum loan size) but my real passion is chasing local real estate deals. I'm a licensed contractor and real estate salesperson in Mass, and I've personally done a couple of rehabs, a tear down (for my now-primary residence) and had some success investing in non-performing notes (@NPN) during the height of the financial crisis.
I'm back in the game after a couple years on the sidelines. Have been lurking around the site for a few weeks and finally decided to go all-in! I have a multifamily rehab deal under agreement, going hard on a deposit tomorrow!
Look forward to connecting and sharing with members on this site - its obviously a great resource and I love the emphasis on free information sharing and giving back!
All the best,
Tom Meade

Hi Tom,
Welcome to BP! Always good to have new locals join up. Also always great to have experienced pros join the community.
Sounds like you will have a wealth of experience to share here and to draw on now that you are getting back into the game.
Do you go to any of the local networking events? One in Waltham on Tuesday and one in Newton on Thursday as the next couple coming up.
Hey Tom,
Glad to have you aboard here on BP. Looking forward to seeing you around advising and sharing. Happy holidays and prosperous investing to you...
Kudos,
Mary
Welcome to BP, Tom,
You have a great background, and it's nice to have more MA people on BP, especially with your experience. Join us if you can at our free networking event Tuesday in Waltham, info in my signature.
@Tom Meade welcome and good luck with the current deal you're working on.
Thanks all for the welcoming comments. Just downloaded the BP app, hopefully this reply posts properly...definitely looking forward to learning as much as contributing! There's a ton of great content on here!
I have been to a couple of local networking events recently, including Black Diamond and BAREIA - great turnouts and programs at both! @justin silverio hosted an unofficial Bigger Pockets event last week but I couldn't make it.
Thanks again and happy investing!
Welcome to the site.
Im planning on attending the Black Diamond event next week, hopefully Ill see you there.
And good luck with your deal, do you typically invest in the Quincy area?
Andrew Boimila - yea I'm a born and bred quincy guy...quincy and South Shore will be my focus. Def Quincy for my buy and hold rental units.
Hi Tom,
It might be beneficial for you to become a pro member. You can have a great signature line that way with your CRE company for lending.
Where is Quincy??
Some of my wife's family live in Worchester and Chelmsford. She was born in MA.

It is on the coast just south of Boston.
Where did your wife live when she was here? I grew up near Chelmsford in Dracut and I worked at Chelmsford High as a teacher in a former life, oh and one of my favorite REIAs is there. :)
Chelmsford High 1987-1991

Welcome @Tom Meade . The next event will be in March. Hopefully you'll be able to make that one. Thanks again for sharing your rehab analysis with me.

Do you guys get up this way much? I'd love to grab a coffee or something and chat.
Hi Shaun,
We do not want to hijack Tom's thread.
I will respond and then back to Tom's topic. We went up there last year to see her dad and her sister. Stayed in Chelmsford and flew in not at the Boston airport but the other one with less traffic. Went into Boston once but favorite was going to Rockport on the water. Loved Durgin park eatery in Boston and the crab cake was awesome.
We might go up there again next year. My wife is a home maker so she listens to me talk about real estate but loves the cats and decorating and seeing her mom. Real estate Is way down on the list! LOL So usually on vacation she doesn't want me to be filled with meetings the whole time although one is usually okay on a trip................ : )

Oops! Oh yeah I guess we got off on a bit of a tangent after I let you know where Quincy was. :)
Sorry @Tom Meade , but on the positive side It is staying at the top of the list of the most recently updated threads! ;p
Just to finish off the thoughts though, Joel next time you guys plan on coming up let me know and we can schedule you just enough to be able to write the trip of as a legit business expense. :)
