Why do people's icons appears up side down and sideways?

I have seen several that sometimes appear up side down and sometimes not.  Some appear sideways.

At first I thought people were just trying to be artsy and clever.  But since some of them sometimes change I'm wondering if it has something to do with back end rendering.

Here's my question...

My picture is right side up.  It only appears upside down, when accessing the site on a mobile device.  Why?  ;-)

@Hattie Dizmond - I'm not certain about that.  Your photo looks fine to me.  It may be cached on your mobile. Clear the cache and see if that helps.

I am on my iPhone and your picture is upside down in this thread. It only happens when I access BP on my phone or iPad never my computer.

I'm on an Android device and everyone's pictures seem to be right side up...

OK...so we may have narrowed it down to Apple mobile devices.  Whatever...everyone just needs to know...I generally have my head screwed on straight!!!  ;-)

@Joshua Dorkin Yes, @Hattie Dizmond 's icon is appearing upside down on my iphone using safari, but not on my laptop, using Chrome.

My picture appears upside down, too. I am using an iPad. Just wanted you to know it is still happening.
